Alderney Week is completely self-funding and as such depends totally on sponsorships, donations and volunteers to make the island’s biggest annual event happen every year. To put it into perspective, the island’s 2,400-strong population virtually doubles during Alderney Week, so its importance and contribution to the Alderney’s economy and tourism is immense. It’s not just the hospitality sector that benefits from Alderney Week. Every shop and business on the island gains from Alderney Week, financially or in terms of awareness and exposure.
This is what makes Alderney Week a unique sponsorship opportunity to raise your profile and to demonstrate your commitment to the island’s community and to a captive audience of residents and visitors.
We are delighted to confirm that the following companies and kind people supported Alderney Week 2010 with their much needed and greatly appreciated sponsorship, donations and assistance: (in alphabetic order)

... and last, but not least, all the many volunteers without whose enthusiastic help and support, Alderney Week simply wouldn’t happen Year after year, Alderney Week and the Alderney Week Team rely heavily on a small army of enthusiastic volunteers who run the stalls on Cavalcade Day, and throughout the week sell raffle tickets, T-shirts and other merchandising goods, helping to organise and run the many events, in particular Belinda Powrie, Ellis Downes and the Rotary Club of Alderney, Barbara Benfield and friends, and Zoë Sowden and her cheerful Bavaria Beer Team and the 41 Club for making sure nobody went thirsty. And because this year there was a shortage of volunteers, they all had to work even harder.
A big thank-you from the Alderney Week Team to all these wonderful people out there and congratulations to the Alderney Week Tech guys and their helpers for doing such a brilliant job this year, delivering and setting up all the props, chairs, tables, equipment, sound and lighting and making it all work.
A big round of applause for Miss Alderney Joanna Woodnutt and her Maid of Honour Hannah Osborne, the Alderney Blowers and all visiting musicians, actors, thespians and entertainers who pulled off the various shows. Angela Stanley and her delightful KFA dancing girls and FireMagic for treating everybody to the most spectacular fireworks finale.
A show of hands for Gerry Diebel who designed the stunning stage scene.
We are most grateful to all of the island’s Emergency Services and the Alderney Divers for being there to prevent any accidents, and to Public Works, the Alderney Wildlife Trust and the 30 Signals Regiment for their hands-on support.
Publicity is very important for Alderney Week and we would like to take this opportunity to thank our friends from the Channel Islands media circle for their excellent and enthusiastic coverage of Alderney Week 2010 – in alphabetic order: The Alderney Journal, the Alderney Press, BBC Radio Guernsey, BBC Radio Jersey, BBC Spotlight Channel Islands, David Earl, the Guernsey Press, Island FM , ITV Channel Television and Quay FM.
And last but not least, we would like to thank the Cavalcade Float builders for their stunning creations and the people and friends of Alderney for making this such a memorable Alderney Week.
