Countdown to Miss Alderney 2022

Alderney, 17 March 2022: For the past two years, the Covid pandemic prevented Alderney Week organisers from holding the traditional Easter Saturday Miss Alderney Party to elect Miss Alderney 2020 and 2021. This was the first time ever that Alderney Week did not have a Miss Alderney– and, sadly, Alderney Week 2021 also had to be cancelled at very short notice. The current Miss Alderney title holder is still 18-year old Abbie Chandler, who was crowned  in 2019.

But this year it’s good news as the scene is set for the election of Miss Alderney 2022!

WANTED:  MISS ALDERNEY 2022 AND HER MAID OF HONOUR

The search is on for Miss Alderney who will represent her Island during Alderney Week at the many different events and venues, starting with the traditional Cavalcade Parade and ending with the amazing Torchlight Procession.

On Easter Saturday 16th April, the Miss Alderney Party will take place from 8:00pm to midnight at the popular Moorings and the Alderney Week Team is pulling out all the stops to make this a party to remember –  with a live band and fantastic prizes for the winner of the coveted title “Miss Alderney 2022”.

To enter the contest, candidates have to be an Alderney resident, aged 16  to 25 , and be on the island throughout Alderney Week. Contestants must like socialising, be proud to represent the island and  happy to present prizes and take part in different events.

This year’s theme is “The Greatest Show” and the programme of events for this madcap week of fun and entertainment is being put together by the Alderney Week Team and will be announced in a few months’ time.

For the Miss Alderney Party, dress to impress, enjoy the party and dance the night away to great live music.  No formal interviews!

Just text 07781 13 44 88 on Saturday 16 April before 4:00pm with your name and age and answer this question: What would you most look forward to doing as Miss Alderney” .

It’s all very discreet and anonymous. Your text will be passed to secret judges and the winners of Miss Alderney 2022 and Maid of Honour will be announced later that night.

The Winner of Miss Alderney 2022 will be rewarded with fantastic prizes, including £150 cash along with more prizes for her and the runner-up who will be the Miss Alderney’s Maid of Honour.  Both ladies will receive beautiful tiaras, sashes, and flowers on the night, with more prizes for both including return flights to Guernsey, plus overnight accommodation with dinner & breakfast at one of the Sarnia Group hotels, beautiful necklaces especially created by local artist Leah Hewerdine (Mermade Glass), hair by Michaela and the Vanity Box, fashion vouchers from Cycle & Surf, manicures by Serenity Beauty, beautiful flowers  plus free entry to the Alderney Week Quarry and Bunker Parties. Miss Alderney also receives a Boardman’s Pharmacy beauty hamper, a bottle of Champagne and a shopping voucher for Cycle & Surf Fashion.

And it’s good news and relief for Miss Alderney and her family if they are too busy to build a float for Cavalcade Day, as a very special Miss Alderney float will be created by the Alderney Week organisers to lead the parade with Miss Alderney, her Maid of Honour and Little Miss & Master Alderney on board

… and more fun at LITTLE MISS & MASTER ALDERNEY PARTY from 2.00pm on the same day.

Fun and games, kids disco, fancy dress competition and plenty of prizes for the winners at this party which takes place at The Butes Centre from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and is open to all Alderney children – from babies to age 11. Please bring your mum or dad along! This event is sponsored by the Farm Shop and Alderney Week.

Contestants for the Little Miss and Master Alderney title have to be Alderney children aged 7-11 years and the winners will be rewarded with great prizes. Little Miss and Master Alderney will join Miss Alderney and her Maid of Honour on the Miss Alderney Cavalcade float.   ENDS
