Every summer, the beautiful island of Alderney comes alive with a week of incredible events, from the spectacular Cavalcade Day and fireworks to the hilarious Man Powered Flight contest and family beach fun.

This is community celebration at its finest, most events are completely free and everyone is welcome, whether you're a local or visiting from across the world.

Over a Century of Island Spirit

Alderney Week has roots stretching back to ancient island traditions from bonfire ceremonies to military sports days. The first recorded Alderney Week took place in July 1908 and it's been growing ever since.

1908

The first recorded Alderney Week, organised by Major B.E. Ward, featuring sports, concerts, a torchlight tattoo and fireworks.

1948

Post-war revival with a cattle show that evolved into a carnival with a beauty queen.

1953

Introduction of a cavalcade of decorated floats.

1970

Ray Parkin took over organising Alderney Week, making it an annual event.

2026

First Week of August – Annual Alderney Week featuring the cavalcade, funfair, sports, competitions, concerts and fireworks. Torchlight Procession & Bonfire – A revival of the Les Brandons tradition, now a core part of Alderney Week.
